Valeria Treves serves as Senior Advisor for Worker Voice Engagement in the Office of the Secretary at the Department of Labor (DOL); she was appointed to join the administration in Feb, 2021.  Prior to coming to DOL, Valeria spent five years at the helm of the Labor Innovations for the 21st Century (LIFT) Fund, a pooled collaborative fund bringing together the AFL-CIO and various philanthropic organizations to support innovative organizing campaigns across the country. Prior to her time at the LIFT Fund, Valeria spent 8 years at the helm of the New Immigrant Community Empowerment (NICE) a worker center in Queens New York organizing immigrant day laborers and domestic workers. Prior to NICE, Valeria worked as an adjunct organizer for PSC-CUNY while she was a graduate student in the CUNY system. She received an undergraduate degree from U.C. Berkeley. 

When she is not working, Valeria enjoys spending time with her daughter, baking, and spending time outdoors. She is also a big fan of off-Broadway theater, particularly Spanish language or multi-lingual productions. Valeria is an immigrant from Argentina and lives in Silver Spring, MD with her daughter and her cat.
