Dr. Janie Mejias is the U.S. Organizer for Women Enabled International. In this role she coordinates  the U.S. Gender and Disability Justice Alliance. This  is a new disability justice-oriented collective convening women, nonbinary people, and  gender expansive people with  disabilities from across the United States together to take action on issues important to our community. Prior to joining the Women Enabled team, Janie  completed her PhD in Disability Studies from the University of Illinois at Chicago. As a lifelong wheelchair user Janie is very active in the disability community.   She currently serves on the Advisory Committee for  the Community Living Equity Center and has previously served as a member of Access Living’s Young Professionals Council and the Disability Justice Mentoring Collective.
